Meet Jen, the creative and knowledgeable force behind The Well Rounded Belly. With her passion for essential oils, herbs, holistic wellness, and all things birth, Jen has built a thriving business that supports and empowers expectant people throughout their pregnancy and birth journey. Today, I’m so excited to dive into recapping Jen’s recent brand session at The Annapolis Studio. As a branding photographer in Baltimore, MD, it was my first time visiting such an amazing space. It served as the PERFECT backdrop for an intentional and successful branding session designed to speak to Jen’s target audience!
Before we get to recapping all of the pretty and intentional photos though… a little glimpse into who Jen is!
The birth of The Well Rounded Belly has been in the works for decades!
Yes, DECADES! It’s not overnight that you become a skilled doula, herbalist, massage therapist, L & D nurse and more! Jen’s journey towards establishing The Well Rounded Belly began in 1998 when she first delved into the world of essential oils, herbs, and holistic wellness. This initial spark ignited a flame within her, leading her to create handcrafted skincare products for local stores in 2004. As her passion grew, Jen decided to expand her knowledge and became a certified Massage Therapist in 2011, specializing in fertility, prenatal, and postpartum massage.
However, it was during her third pregnancy in 2012 that Jen’s path took an unexpected but exciting turn. Her midwife recognized Jen’s natural talent and encouraged her to become a doula. Embracing this opportunity, Jen underwent training to become her doula’s birth assistant and fell head over heels in love with the birthing process. Today, she proudly serves as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at a local hospital, bringing together all her expertise and experience to provide the best possible support to those giving birth… in addition to running The Well Rounded Belly!
At The Well Rounded Belly, Jen offers a holistic approach to pregnancy and birth support, combining her knowledge as an herbalist, doula, and nurse. In short? Jen knows her stuff!
Her diverse range of services includes Doula Support, Belly Binding, Evidence Based Birth Classes, Birth/Labor crash courses, massage therapy, and more! With a deep understanding of herbal remedies and natural wellness, Jen incorporates this expertise into all aspects of her work, ensuring that her clients receive comprehensive, evidence based, and individualized care.
To capture the essence of The Well Rounded Belly, Jen chose to have her brand session at The Annapolis Studio.
This dynamic space provided the perfect backdrop for showcasing her multifaceted business. With its wide range of backdrops and setups, The Annapolis Studio offered endless possibilities to reflect the diversity of Jen’s brand.
One notable feature of the studio was the stunning floral wall, which added an organic and natural feel to the session. It beautifully complemented the idea of nurturing and supporting expectant people, emphasizing the connection between nature and the transformative journey of pregnancy. I also quickly became obsessed with the mobile black wall, which added an edgy and modern touch to the session. It perfectly represented Jen’s contemporary approach to birth support, blending traditional and modern techniques.
During her four-hour session, Jen’s warm and nurturing personality shone through as she effortlessly moved from one concept to the next.
Her natural ability to care for others while educating them about her passions was evident as she walked through every step of her session.
My sister, along with a few of Jen’s friends, came through to model for her session! (It’s so much fun to look back on my sister’s growing bump now that her baby is HERE!) One of Jen’s close friends, who was just days away from giving birth and was basically in pre-labor, joined in to bring some incredibly real-to-life images into reality. Jen offered some coaching and pre-labor treatments… and as we sent her on her way home, we all wished her well and hoped she would make it home before labor really kicked into gear! (Baby arrived just a few days later, safe and sound!)
The images we created together showcase Jen’s warmth, expertise, and dedication to empowering birthing people throughout their pregnancy and birth journey while serving her business SO well.
I love that you can see her expansive knowledge, excitement, and genuine desire to provide the best possible experience for her clients in each image we created together.
