As a Lifestyle Newborn Photographer in Washington DC, I’ve recently had the chance to embark on a beautiful session, photographing an adorable newborn and his loving family. Here’s a look into their story and the gorgeous morning that we spent together!
I met Lorena (The sweet mama you see here!), a talented dermatologist in the DMV, at the start of my branding photography career!
At the time, she was waiting for the news on if she passed her boards, and I was dreaming of all of the possible ways that she could use her new headshots and brand photos to promote her journey in the medical field because, duh, of course she was going to pass her boards! (She did!)
Fast forward a few years, and our paths crossed again! Her career as a dermatologist was thriving and I was in the process of launching a new chapter in my business— the lifestyle newborn photography and family portrait side of my business. She and her family were just days away from welcoming their son to their family and were hoping to work together to capture his newborn portraits! I truly felt like we were coming full circle.
Baby J’s arrival was dreamed about and anticipated by his family for years, making this session so incredibly sweet.
Lorena and her family had been hoping for the arrival of their bundle of joy, baby J, for years, who was welcomed to their family with so much love, gratitude, and excitement.
Baby J, the newest member of the family, was an absolute delight during his first photo session. He was sleepy, cuddly, and his big brother was more than willing to help. It was a heartwarming sight to see this lovely family welcoming their newborn with so much love and joy!
Life changes with the arrival of a newborn, but for this family, there was more in store!
They were actually about to move to a new home across the city, adding another exciting chapter to their lives. Two weeks before this session, the D family closed on a new home… and just a week after their session, they would be moving!
A move is stressful in any season, let alone when you have just welcomed a new baby! Before relocating, Lorena wanted to preserve the memories of their old home, where they brought their youngest home and spent countless happy moments together. Their apartment, with its stunning natural light, was the perfect location for their session. I wish that I could bottle up the natural light in their living room for each and every session I photograph!
Working with Lorena’s family was a dream come true. Everyone, from the parents to the adorable brothers, was a pleasure to work with. As a lifestyle newborn photographer in Washington DC, my job is not just about taking pretty photos. It’s all about capturing the emotions, the joy, and the love that fills the air when a new life is welcomed into the world. I so hope that I was able to capture just a snippet of the joy that this crew was feeling in the early days of bringing Baby J home!
It was an honor to photograph this season for Lorena and her family, and I cannot WAIT for you to see the gorgeous images that we were able to create together.
