I had the joy of working with Cate back in April, a gorgeous grad who recently celebrated her graduation from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Public Health Studies. I had the privilege of capturing her graduate portrait session on Hopkins Homewood campus. From exploring the historic grounds to capturing the beauty of the azalea blooms, her session was truly a dream… I promise we will get to the pretty soon, but before we do, let’s take a walk through some of the highlights of her grad experience!
Cate’s session was my first grad session at Johns Hopkins University!
Coming into any session, I’m always hopeful that I’m able to deliver on a client’s expectations… and with grad sessions, that also comes with knowing college campuses like the back of your hand! Knowing I was walking into a brand new campus had me feeling like I was back in my first weeks at Penn State! I couldn’t help but feel a mix of nerves and excitement, knowing that it would be so much fun to look at a place with fresh eyes… while also hoping we would be able to visit all of the iconic spots in one swoop!
Luckily, Cate, with her infectious enthusiasm, became my personal tour guide, taking me to all of the most iconic spots on campus. We began her session at Gilman Hall, a central location known for its architectural beauty, and ventured to various spots in the area that showcased the university’s rich heritage.
Timing played a crucial role in making Cate’s session truly magical.
With graduation season just around the corner, we were fortunate to have the campus to ourselves, allowing us to capture the best views without any distractions. The weather was on our side, providing a perfect backdrop for Cate’s portraits. The soft, golden light enhanced every frame, highlighting her radiant smile and the joy of her achievement.
Nature added its own touch of beauty to the session as we stumbled upon fluffy azalea blooms scattered throughout campus. It’s always a joy when a session is timed perfectly with a blossom season! I loved being able to incorporate these stunning blooms into her photographs while they were at their peak! (For those that love azaleas… hint-hint… end of April will be your BFF!)
While Cate’s graduation marked a significant milestone, this is just the beginning for her!
With a passion for public health (and the degree to match!), she will be embarking on a career in government health consulting. Her dedication to making a difference in the world is evident through her involvement in various organizations during her time at Hopkins.
During her studies, Cate actively contributed to “Epidemic Proportions,” a public health journal that focuses on raising awareness and addressing health issues on a global scale. Additionally, she was part of SHARE, an organization that sends essential supplies to medical clinics in underserved communities. Cate’s commitment to improving healthcare access and knowledge is so inspiring.
Cate’s joyful spirit, combined with her remarkable achievements and gorgeous campus as our backdrop, made her session truly memorable. It is such an honor to document such significant moments and contribute to the celebration of her success! As Cate embarks on her journey beyond graduation, her dedication to public health and her commitment to inclusivity will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the world.
It was an absolute pleasure to capture this milestone in Cate’s life, and I wish her nothing but success in her future endeavors! Now… are you ready to see how gorgeous this girl is?!
