When I say that Stacie and Dan’s wedding couldn’t have been more perfect… seriously… it couldn’t have been more perfect! Their day was a little over 6 years in the making, and WOW was it worth every second of planning and anticipation!
Going into any wedding day, I’ll admit— I get pretty nervous! But, going into a day with multiple locations to visit around a city known for traffic… on a day that could have brought sunshine, rain, sleet, snow, heat, or freezing temps (If you know November in DC…you know!), I was definitely feeling a little more nervous than usual! We had some epic portrait locations planned (More on that in a moment!), and I had my fingers and toes crossed that we would be good to green light our plan A!
Saturday brought nothing but sunny skies, early summer-like temps, and while we hit a little traffic here and there, it was nothing that put us behind!
In fact… we ran ahead of timeline nearly the entire day! (That’s 100% why you hire a planner… shoutout to Katie of Rose Gold Events and Styling for being THE best in the biz!)
I have been looking forward to Stacie and Dan’s wedding day for a while now, but after their cherry blossom engagement session, I all but counted down the minutes ’til their Mayflower Hotel wedding day! You see… these two are so kind and thoughtful, and when they are together, their smiles are just a little brighter. They put so much intentionality and heart into their wedding planning— it is no surprise that their day went off without a hitch. From officially becoming husband and wife in the church that Stacie’s great-grandparents helped to found (and where she was raised!) to their Greek dessert favors, homemade by a loved one, they incorporated so many sweet and sentimental details that made an already incredible day that much more special.
I may be a bit biased, but their Mayflower Hotel DC wedding photos are pretty incredible.
Stacie and Dan knew they wanted their photos to have a sprinkle of DC without screaming HELLO WE ARE STANDING HERE IN FRONT OF THE US CAPITOL, and with SO much portrait time at the DC War Memorial, I think we accomplished that goal (And more… just wait until you see their portraiture with the autumn leaves!). I can tell a lot about a day from the getting ready suite when I arrive, and I knew I was in for a treat of a day from the moment I stepped into Stacie’s suite at the Mayflower!
They were bumping 90s hiphop as hair and makeup was in full swing, and everyone was smiling, laughing, and having the best time. Fast forward to first look, wedding party, and couple’s portraits at the DC War Memorial, and things were just as sweet! It helps when you have a wedding party that is fun as they are helpful and on it!
After portraits on the Mall, we headed over to St. Sophia for Stacie and Dan to officially become husband and wife!
After their ceremony, it was back to the Mayflower for a few portraits with the iconic Mayflower sign before it was time to party! (And let me tell you… this crew was ready to party!) Their dance floor was bumpin’ from minute one all the way until our end-of-the-night goodbyes (And I’m sure well beyond too!), but what was extra sweet to see was just how much FUN Stacie and Dan have together. Their smiles were extra bright when they were together on the dance floor, and you could see just how happy they were to be celebrating a new chapter in their relationship with so many of their favorite people by their side.
Thank you, Stacie and Dan, for trusting me to photograph your wedding day! Clearly, I could go on and on about how amazing of a day we had, but I know what you’re really here for… the photos! So, let’s get to it! Enjoy a sneak peek into Stacie and Dan’s Mayflower Hotel DC wedding photos!
Stacie… you are GLOWING!
Time for Stacie and Dan’s first look at the DC War Memorial!
OBSESSED with these florals!
Stacie’s great-grandparents helped to found Saint Sophia… how special is it that she got to marry the love of her life in such a meaningful location!
Stacie and Dan got a private first look of their reception space and practiced their first dance in private. LOVE that they got to share such a special moment before all of their family and friends filled the space.
Thank you, Stacie and Dan! It was such a joy to photograph your wedding day!
