Katie and Max | A Sunrise Engagement Session at the Lincoln Memorial

I have to start off this post by bragging on these two AND Katie’s parents! They were ALL up well before the crack of dawn, bright-eyed and joyful on the steps of Lincoln by sunrise. Katie’s parents even came in from out of town to take care of their sweet pup, Teddy throughout their session! I met Katie while I was teaching barre at Flywheel in DC, and when she reached out to me about photographing her wedding late last year, my heart skipped a beat! She was one of my regular members, sweet as can be always with a smile on he face (even during isolated arms!), and I was beyond excited to know she would soon be saying “I Do” to the man of her dreams… Which brings me to Max!

Katie and Max met online and meshed immediately when they realized they grew up in the same town. They had a ton of mutual connections, went to the same school for undergrad, and even lived just a few blocks from each other on 14th Street NW in DC! Can you believe their paths hadn’t crossed before?!

Max asked Katie to be his wife on Thanksgiving of 2020. He said that he knew Katie was the one when they were in Europe in the spring of 2020 AKA when the travel ban went into place. They somehow survived, came out stronger as a couple on the other side, and Max was hoping things would be better later in the year so they could visit Seattle (one of their favorite places to visit!) and he could propose. 2020, of course, had other plans! Max had a deadline in his mind (Katie was READY to make things official with a ring!), so he decided that he would ask the big question at Thanksgiving where they could celebrate with their immediate families. Katie and Max were hosting, and Katie was super nervous. This was their first time hosting Thanksgiving for their families, and the pressure was on! Katie was cooking all morning with Max’s mom and refused to leave the kitchen. Max’s dad asked to make a toast, forcing Katie out of the kitchen, and then Max took over, and well… that was that! Katie said YES!

Max loves Katie’s dedication. Whatever she is doing, she gives it her all… from baking a birthday cake to working late to help someone out, planning surprises for friends, or even… cooking Thanksgiving dinner for their families, she never stops. Katie loves the way they complement each other. They are so happy when they spend time together and also enjoy balancing time enjoying their own hobbies. It makes the time they spend together that much sweeter.

Katie and Max kicked off my first of many spring mornings spent at the Lincoln Memorial in the most perfect way! We had a stunning morning, enjoying so much gorgeous glow with their sweet pup, Teddy in tow! I’m counting down the days ’til their Excelsior wedding in August of 2022— It is going to be SO much fun!

Teddy was SUCH a good boy! These two brought me back to one of my FAVORITE streets in DC for the end of their session. I constantly commuted home from the gym along this charming street, and it turns out, these two used to LIVE on this street! The first home they shared together was along this adorable and charming street.
