Eastern Market | A Photography Walk for Creatives in Washington, DC | Wandering the District

Better late than never, right?! I’m bringing you July’s Wandering the District a little later than usual, but it is a good one! Yes, it happened back in July, but I didn’t have a chance to blog it before August hit! Things have been crazy since, so it is just now coming to you on the blog!

Back when I moved to DC, I made a mini “DC bucket list” of all of the places that I wanted to see and all of the things that I wanted to do while I lived here! If you are someone that lives in a “touristy” city or a large metropolitan area, you know that these lists often get pushed to the back of a notebook and are forgotten about soon after they’re made. Well… it’s safe to say that this happened to me, and it wasn’t until recently that this list was finally pulled back out & put to use!

Eastern Market was one of the top spots on my DC list ever since I moved here, and just over three years later, I finally adventured out to see what it was all about! From what I’ve heard, Eastern Market is a really incredible market, and I could expect plenty of booths, filled with eats, art & products! What I totally wasn’t expecting was the size of the market! There had to be at least 100 booths, each filled with something colorful, unique, and incredibly beautiful. We found fruits & veggies, clothes & bags, meats & cheeses, hanging art, hand soap, adorable earrings, candles, furniture, and just about anything you could ever dream up! I’m tempted to come back one day to shop early for the holidays!!

If you want to check out Eastern Market yourself, find the details through this link!

We had a small but mighty crew for our Sunday afternoon trek (Hi Nicole and Cassidy!! It was great to see you both!) and explored the market and surrounding area. I loved the booths filled with local art and products and really enjoyed cooling down inside! I actually get to photograph a wedding reception here in October, so it was also really nice to take a look around their venue space (it is going to be amazing!). It may have been a really hot day, but it was SO fun to look through all of the booths, to catch up with two sweet friends, and to see all of the COLOR Eastern Market has to offer!

We ventured over to Capitol Hill Books before heading to the market! The prettiest peaches I ever did see… So many pretty pieces! The area surrounding Eastern Market is the cutest! We ventured inside to find some AC! We ended up getting distracted by the Blue Iris Flowers stand… can you blame us?! These peonies are gorgeous! Shoutout to Cassidy for this snap! LOVE all of these colors! (I’m pretty sure I went to this restaurant in Florence, Italy! I need to go to the one here in DC!!) Nicole found the cutest hat at one of the booths! After exploring the market, we headed down to Barracks Row! Nicole was craving a Fluffernutter donut, so we made that happen! Shoutout District Donuts! I’ve never tried them because #gluten, but word on the street is: they are AMAZING!!!  Sweaty selfie… at least I remembered to take a group picture this month! Shoutout to these ladies for a fun afternoon!!
