Surprise Proposal in Fells Point | Nicole and Pat

Now when I say I’m behind on blogging sessions… I really mean it. This sweet moment actually kicked off last spring season for me… but it was just too special (and these two are too fun!) not to give it a permanent home on the blog. So today, I’m so excited to finally share Pat and Nicole’s surprise proposal in Fells Point!

Pat and Nicole’s story begins all the way back in 2016, when they first met during M&T Bank’s Management Development Program.

Nicole was based in DC, Pat in Buffalo. Aside from one memorable night where Nicole helped get Pat’s car home, their paths didn’t cross too much at the time.

Fast forward to 2019—Pat moved to DC, not knowing many people, and reconnected with Nicole. Just a few months later (and two months before the world shut down), they started dating. Four years, three moves, and countless memories later, they’re now building a life together in Buffalo— and it all led to this sweet, rainy, joy-filled moment in Baltimore.

For these two, Baltimore holds some of their favorite memories. It’s where they reconnected, where they’ve celebrated many St. Patrick’s Day weekends, and where some of their most fun, meaningful moments have happened. They love the waterfront views, the energy, and of course, a good happy hour.

So when it came time to plan the big question, the Fells Point waterfront was the perfect backdrop.

On a moody March afternoon, Pat and Nicole headed to the water near Barco, under the pretense of catching up with friends.

The weather couldn’t quite decide what it wanted to do—it danced between sunshine and mist, warm-ish and breezy, but that just added to the magic of the moment.

With the harbor behind them, Pat got down on one knee, and in the soft rain, Nicole said yes! Right after, we spent time capturing their newly-engaged glow along the waterfront, with lots of laughs, happy tears, and of course— champagne-popping-worthy celebration energy.

They later joined friends for a surprise after party at Barco, keeping the good vibes going well into the night!

If you asked them to sum up their relationship in a phrase?

“Best friends and beer pong partners” might just be the most perfect answer, according to Pat. These two are the real deal— equal parts fun and heartfelt, goofy and grounded. It was such a joy to document this chapter of their story, and I couldn’t be happier for them as they continue building a life full of laughter, love, and spontaneous rainstorms.

Pat and Nicole—thank you for trusting me to capture such a meaningful day. You’re truly two of the kindest souls, and I feel so lucky to have witnessed this moment.
