When it comes to Taylor and Tristan, “the sweetest humans to ever exist” might actually be an understatement. From our very first conversations, it was clear that their wedding day would be exactly what they wanted it to be: joyful, authentic, and perfectly reflective of who they are as a couple. And Sunday? It absolutely delivered.
These two planned a day that truly made sense. From walking arm in arm down the aisle together to a wedding location that perfectly mirrored their lighthearted spirits, every detail spoke to their story. They even found ways to make guests part of that story, like a custom crossword poster at cocktail hour and genius ceremony programs that doubled as fans and seating charts. Honestly, Taylor and Tristan just get it.
Sunday afternoon greeted us with beautiful, sunny weather, puffy clouds, and cooler temperatures—perfect for a Maryland Zoo Wedding Day!
I met Taylor and Tristan at the Mansion House in the afternoon, and their excitement to finally be together for their big day was infectious. We started their portrait block in the zoo with a stop at the rockwall for their first look. There were happy tears, hugs, and a few spins to really take it all in.
Taylor’s gown was a dream: mid-length with a plunging neckline, long sleeves, intricate buttons down her back, and the lightest, most flowy skirt— perfect for wandering through the zoo! She incorporated heirloom lace and fabric from loved ones, adding layers of meaning to her look. And yes, the whimsical length was ideal for showing off her adorable shoes while staying comfortable all day. I mean when I say these two just know how to do things that make sense… this is what I mean! A dress that has incredibly beautiful AND sentimental value and allows you to ride a carousel, frolic through bubbles, AND end the night tearing it up on the dance floor just MAKES SENSE (in the most beautiful of ways).
Next up, we made our way to the carousel. Taylor and Tristan took their seats in one of the thrones, surrounded by all the whimsy the zoo has to offer. We captured beautiful portraits at the carousel and in front of the Maryland Zoo sign before heading over to the swinging bridge for more playful shots.
Huge thanks to Kenzie, who is absolutely wonderful at helping couples navigate the Maryland Zoo for photos—she made the day so easy and fun!
Back at the Mansion House, Taylor and Tristan were greeted by their crew of people— family, friends, and loved ones— for group photos.
Efficient, organized, and full of joy, their loved ones made this part a breeze, and before we knew it, it was time to get these cuties hitched!
Taylor and Tristan’s ceremony took place at Penguin Coast, officiated by one of their best friends and they said “I Do” surrounded by so many of their favorite people and flightless birds.
They walked arm in arm down the aisle before exchanging personal vows and rings. Sealed with a kiss and a shower of bubbles, they officially became husband and wife!
And yes—after the ceremony, we snuck in a private first look with a very special guest… Olive the penguin! Couples at the Maryland Zoo have the option to include two animal ambassadors during cocktail hour, and Taylor and Tristan brought in Olive along with a tiny screech owl for the most unforgettable portraits and guest experience.
The cocktail hour was a perfect mix of drinks, penguins, and owl cameos, accompanied by the couple’s clever and thoughtful decor.
Wildflowers and greenery decorated tables, Lego animals peeked out from spots around the room, and their sweet cats were hand-painted on the signature drink sign. Menu cards with allergen info doubled as cute design details—everything truly reflected Taylor and Tristan’s personalities.
They entered cocktail hour to Dynomite (hello TNT/T&T pun!) and mingled with their guests before transitioning into a dinner filled with toasts, laughter, and joy.
As the evening progressed, the skies outside came alive with colorful clouds and light.
Taylor and Tristan stole a few moments for romantic newlywed photos before returning to their reception to kick off the dancing. Their choreographed first dance to Maggie Rogers was flawless and full of personality, leading into parent dances and then a fully open dance floor for everyone to join.
Glow sticks, safari hats, drinks in hand, and an epic playlist turned the Mansion House into a celebration full of laughter, love, and energy. Taylor and Tristan’s thoughtful approach made everyone feel included and celebrated—exactly what they had planned from the start!
Taylor and Tristan’s Maryland Zoo Wedding Day was whimsical, heartfelt, and full of fun the most thoughtful gestures. From personal vows and clever details to penguin cameos and big dance moves, every moment told the story of their love. Being present for a day so perfectly them was an absolute joy, and I can’t wait for you to scroll through these images and soak in the magic, whimsy, and pure happiness of their day!
