There are wedding days that just feel like pure joy from start to finish—and Annalise and Rafael’s Raspberry Plain Manor wedding day was absolutely one of them. I actually met Annalise nearly SIX years ago at her sister Ciera’s wedding, so when she reached out to have me capture her own day, I was beyond honored (and honestly a little emotional!) to be invited back to celebrate with this incredible family again. There is nothing sweeter than watching families I love so much continue to grow and celebrate such beautiful milestones together!
Our day started at the stunning Raspberry Plain Manor, where the ladies were already well into hair and makeup.
Shoutout to their glam team for running AHEAD of schedule (a photographer’s dream!) and making sure everyone looked absolutely flawless. As I scoped out the grounds for the best portrait spots, I was greeted by familiar faces—Ciera and her and Annalise’s mom—who were glowing in their own hair and makeup and made sure I was completely set for the day.
While the final beauty touches were happening, I got to work photographing some of Annalise’s gorgeous details: the rings, adorable pearly heels, and the bridal gown—a stunning piece with the most elegant draping and intricate, silky fabric details. Once everyone was picture-perfect, we transitioned into some fun photos of the ladies in their monogrammed PJs before tucking Annalise away to step into her gown with the help of her mom, sister, and maid of honor. Meanwhile, my amazing second photographer Caitlin headed down the hall to hang with Rafael and his crew, who were having the BEST time. There was music, laughter, and a whole lot of hype-man energy! Rafael’s best man even surprised the crew with custom accessories—pocket watches, cufflinks, and sleek timepieces—to tie their looks together. It was such a thoughtful touch that spoke volumes about their friendship and loyalty.
One of my favorite moments of the morning? Annalise’s emotional first look with her dad.
After a few deep breaths and happy tears, he sent his daughter off to see Rafael for the first time that day.
Now, if you’ve been around here for a while, you know I’m a big fan of first looks— and Annalise and Rafael reminded me exactly why. As Rafael turned around and saw Annalise for the first time, the biggest smile lit up his face. You could feel any nerves they may have been feeling melt away as they wrapped each other in the sweetest embrace. From that moment forward, it was clear: the day wasn’t about stress or timelines. It was about joy, love, and being fully present with their favorite person.
After their first look, we wandered around the lush Raspberry Plain Manor grounds for portraits before bringing in their wedding party.
The ladies stunned in flowing sage green gowns, while the gents rocked sharp blue suits accented with those fun custom pieces from the Best Man and groom. I asked the groomsmen to hype Rafael up and—no surprise—they crushed the assignment! The laughter and energy were unmatched. Meanwhile, the bridesmaids shared giggles with Annalise and their adorable flower girl (One of Rafael’s sweet daughters!) about who would be shaking their booty on the dance floor later that night. Spoiler alert: they ALL did!
Soon, it was time to gather family for portraits and get ready for the ceremony. While guests began arriving, the wedding party headed back to the suite to freshen up while Caitlin and I slipped inside to capture some thoughtful celebration details: framed portraits of loved ones on their wedding days, playing card favors, a creative guest book, custom cocktail napkins featuring their pup’s face (such a cute touch!), and so much more. These two poured so much love into every detail.
Before we knew it, it was go time!
Annalise and her dad threw back a quick shot together before walking out of the manor and down the aisle. Rafael stood at the altar, calm and smiling like he had been waiting for this moment forever— it almost felt like these two were walking to meet up at the end of a long day! It was relaxed yet exciting but also felt just like they were both home as they embraced on the altar! Their ceremony was emotional and heartfelt, celebrated by one of their mutual coworkers where they initially connected. They exchanged personal vows, rings, and sealed it all with a kiss to the cheers of their closest people!
After an epic recessional complete with high fives and hugs, Annalise and Rafael joined their guests for cocktail hour before sneaking away for a few dreamy “just married” portraits in front of the Raspberry Plain Manor. The golden light was magic, and the joy on their faces was everything!
Soon… it was officially party time!
Their reception space was dripping in elegance— white florals, greenery, gold accents, and those gorgeous Virginia hillside views through the windows. Guests enjoyed espresso martinis as Annalise and Rafael shared an emotional first dance that had everyone tearing up. We stepped outside again for a few sunset portraits, and let me just say… these are some of my FAVORITES ever. At one point, I told them to just take it all in, and Rafael threw his arms wide, grinning ear to ear, before wrapping Annalise up in the most joyful embrace. Pure magic.
The night continued with incredible toasts (equal parts laughter and tears), sweet parent dances, a special bouquet dedication, and then… the dance floor absolutely EXPLODED. These two and their people know how to party, and it was the BEST way to end such a beautiful day.
Annalise and Rafael, thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with your wedding day memories. It was such a joy to celebrate with you and your families. I hope you enjoy this sneak peek into your Raspberry Plain Manor wedding day!
