I love when engagement sessions feel like a true reflection of a couple — their story, what they love to do together, and the ways they show up for one another. Taylor and Tres’s session was exactly that: playful, meaningful, and totally them.
These two have such a sweet history — they actually met through Tinder and their first date was at an arcade bar in Knoxville where they basically shut the place down (seriously — stayed until 2 AM!). From that very first night, they never stopped seeing each other. After doing long distance for a while, they made the move back to the East Coast to be closer to family, and the next chapter of their love story began…
I had a fun connection to this couple before cameras ever came out!
I met Tres at Orangetheory years ago when we both worked there, and Taylor was a dedicated OTF client at the time too! Getting to photograph them in their wedding era felt like the sweetest full‑circle moment.
When it came time for Tres to propose, he had everything planned… right down to a personalized ornament with his last name and photos of them. The only problem? He had ordered the sweetest ornament as part of the plan, and it didn’t arrive until two hours after they hit the road for the holidays. Luckily, they were able to make the moment it happened incredibly sweet and meaningful. After they returned to Baltimore the day after Christmas, the ornament finally arrived, and right then, before they even hung it, Tres got down on one knee. He was nervous but Taylor was absolutely shocked (especially since a few of her family members had been in on the secret), and the rest was history!
For their session, we did something I’d never done before but instantly loved.
We started at Urban Axes (because Taylor and Tres are both in an axe‑throwing league and it’s such a big part of their relationship!) and had so much fun tossing axes, sipping on beer, and breaking the ice! Those first moments of the session were pure fun and totally set the tone.
Then, as the sun started to dip and the fall colors were glowing, we made our way to Patterson Park to capture warm, romantic portraits among the autumn foliage.
From competitive axe throws to cozy embraces in golden light, this Unique Baltimore Engagement Session at Urban Axes and Patterson Park really showcased what makes Taylor and Tres them.
There was laughter, connection, and so much joy — it was an absolute dream to document. Here are a few of my favorites from their session — enjoy!!
