Let’s take a walk down memory lane through the romantic engagement session of Emily and Dan, a delightful couple slated to tie the knot in May 2024. Their session took place in the historic streets of Old Town Alexandria, providing us with picturesque Old Town Alexandria engagement photos that perfectly encapsulate their bond.
We started their session on the docks overlooking the Potomac River as the sun just began to crack the horizon. We continued to explore the waterfront for a bit before heading into the heart of town to find some charming alleys and historical street corners. We covered A LOT of ground and had such a blast touring through town together.
This was actually my second time photographing Emily!
She graced my camera as a bridesmaid at a wedding back in 2017. (Hi, Liz and Louis!) It was absolutely delightful to see her again, not as a bridesmaid this time, but as the radiant bride-to-be!
Emily and Dan’s love story is truly a sign of our times. They first crossed paths online— Hinge to be exact. Their initial rendezvous was set in a charming brewery once our world began opening up, a brave choice considering the ongoing COVID situation (We all remember those days!). But as fate would have it, sparks flew and they ended up talking, dating, and eventually, falling in love.
Fast-forward to them embarking on a new chapter together, moving into their first shared apartment. Little did Emily know, Dan had orchestrated an unforgettable surprise.
After a long day of moving, Dan took Emily by surprise, getting down on one knee to pop the question.
It was a meticulously planned occasion, with Dan ensuring that everything was perfect. He even sent Emily out to pick up dinner so he could set up his romantic proposal. Initially she fought being the one to pickup the takeout, but eventually, she left to get the food. Once she left, Dan got to work, setting up a romantic setting for his proposal to occur. When she arrived back home with their orders, Dan dropped down on one knee and asked Emily to marry him. She initially felt bad about getting upset about being the one to pickup the food, but she enthusiastically accepted his proposal and now they laugh about the situation in hindsight.
Dan’s admiration for Emily is palpable. He cherishes her unyielding encouragement and how she constantly pushes him to strive for better. Being around Emily brings him immense joy.
On the other hand, Emily is smitten by Dan’s calming presence. His reassurance that everything will be alright provides her with a sense of comfort.
Emily and Dan are the epitome of an easy-going and relaxed couple, exuding an aura that makes one feel as if they’ve known them for ages.
Their Old Town Alexandria engagement photo session was a testament to their infectious charm, and I am eagerly looking forward to celebrating their union in Northern VA this May!
