There’s nothing that makes a wedding day more enjoyable than a couple that thoughtfully planned each and every detail of their wedding day ahead of time… the vibes can be light and fun because everything has been taken care of, and all that is left to do is ENJOY the day! That was exactly Christina and Will’s wedding day, and it made their day that much more joyful! Their wedding day flew by in the blink of an eye because we were having so much fun.
Christina and Will are one of the kindest and most considerate couples that I have had the pleasure of working with, and they surround themselves with people who reflect their kind, joyful, and welcoming spirits. I knew I would be in for a treat of a wedding day after meeting Christina and Will for their engagement session at the Lincoln Memorial, but nothing could have prepared me for just how much fun we would have together! Their wedding party was incredibly helpful, taking care of everything that needed to be done while making the day so much fun in the process.
Their Birkby House wedding photos are truly the star of this blog post, but first, a little recap to share a little more about just how sweet their wedding day was!
When I rolled into the Birkby House, Christina’s side of their wedding party was deep into hair and makeup with tunes playing and mimosas flowing. All of their details were thoughtfully curated and laid out for us to photograph right away as hair and makeup was completed. Will’s side soon arrived just after for lunch and getting ready just upstairs from where Christina’s side was prepping.
Christina and Will are some of the most joyful people which made their day that much sweeter. From the moment we arrived to our final goodbyes, they were both all smiles and so ready to celebrate their love with all of their favorite people. The rest of their day went by in a flash because we were having so much fun! Getting ready photos melted into family and wedding party portraiture before guests started arriving. As family and friends rolled in, Christina and Will had a few minutes to relax and prep for the big moment! Their pup, Leo, arrived for snuggles, sniffs, and lots of ear scratchies… I know it was technically Christina and Will’s day, but… when you see how cute Leo is, you’ll see who really stole the show 😉
Christina and Will were married in a gorgeous ceremony in Birkby House‘s courtyard.
They chose to see each other for the first time at the altar which was emotional for everyone! It was so sweet to see these two lock teary eyes as Christina’s parents walked her down the aisle. Christina and Will became husband and wife surrounded by all of their family, friends, and beloved pup! With personal vows written by both bride and groom, it was impossible to make it through the ceremony without a few tears.
Once these two officially exchanged rings and said I do, cocktail hour was a blur of hugs and portraits for these two! We got through so much in just under an hour, including the remainder of their family and wedding party portraits, photos with their sweet pup, Leo, and lots of gorgeous couple’s photos— they were troopers! It was a blur, but an absolutely gorgeous blur at that! As guests loaded into the brand new and absolutely stunning Birkby House conservatory space, these two prepped for their grand entrance! They entered the gorgeous space and stepped right into their first dance as a married couple to one of their very favorite songs, The Christmas Song (Yes, the one by Nat King Cole!). I love that they will be transported back to such a special moment in time whenever this song comes on during the holiday season.
The rest of the evening was spent celebrating and dancing the night away… and smiling hard at how much fun Christina, Will, and their crew were having on the dance floor (after a few photos in the delicious golden hour light, of course)!
