Surprise proposals are always special… but there’s a little extra magic you’ve known the person being surprised for YEARS! I’ve known Eisha since our senior year in college, and when I say I squealed when James’ email came across my inbox, that is no exaggeration. James emailed me a few months ago and let me know that he had plans to propose to Eisha and that she had mentioned that she wanted someone there to photograph the moment!
Eisha and James met in August 2016 while working for the Clinton campaign. At the time, they were in State College, PA, and they connected right away. After the campaign ended, they stayed in touch and realized that what they had was more than just a campaign fling. They soon made things official, and since, they have lived and worked on various campaigns in Boston, New Hampshire (x2), Philly, and now call DC home together.
Throughout their time in the campaign world, Eisha and James always talked about moving down to DC after all of their hard work. Campaign work isn’t easy, bringing lots of travel, many moves, and some tough times too. Having a shared dream and destination centered both Eisha and James and served as a reminder that the challenges would be worth it someday.
Throughout the years, the Lincoln Memorial become one of their favorite spots in DC, and James felt that proposing to Eisha in a spot that represented so much of the hopes and dreams they mutually shared throughout their relationship and various campaign positions would be as fitting as it was beautiful.
I may be biased as someone that got to witness such a sweet moment, but James truly knocked the whole proposal planning thing out of the park. Their Lincoln Memorial surprise proposal was so incredibly beautiful, but what made it even sweeter was knowing the thought, heart, and years of hard work that brought them to that very moment.
The morning of their proposal was hot and early… I have no idea how James got Eisha down to the mall for sunrise without raising any suspicions, but I’m so glad that he pulled it off with the help of a few friends! After James got down on one knee, we popped champagne and celebrated with some portraits in such an iconic DC spot (And admired Eisha’s gorgeous new ring!) before these two headed off for a day of celebrations!
Congratulations, Eisha and James! I’m wishing you all the best in your wedding planning and beyond!
THAT RING THO!
So many of Eisha and James’ favorite people were watching from afar!
