Maddie and Mike | A Tradition Inspired Navy and White Wedding at Penn State

If you know me well, you know that I absolutely love, love, love my school! I graduated from Penn State, and any time I can get back there is welcomed with open arms! So, when Maddie & Mike reached out to me about photographing their Penn State wedding, I pretty much had my car packed the second we got off the phone! Wow… what an honor it was to spend the day beside these two and their families!

Oh my goodness, I can’t wait for you to meet Maddie & Mike! I think the best way to describe them as a couple is simply FUN! They’re down to earth, so in love, and absolutely hilarious–we were truly laughing all day long! Did I mention that Maddie and Mike are also HUGE Penn Staters?! (My kind of people!!) These two fell in love at Penn State, so it was only fitting that their wedding be where it all began! I loved how they incorporated a traditional blue and white statement theme with Penn State inspired elements all throughout their day! It was such a special nod to their relationship roots.

They say rain on a wedding day is good luck, right?! I’m confident that these two are in for a lifetime of goodness!! Though rain persisted throughout their day, the radar cleared JUST in time for their gorgeous bride and groom portraits at the Arboretum! Phew–what a treat! These two were way too excited to be MARRIED though, so no amount of rain was going to ruin their day! (Have I ever mentioned that I have the best clients ever?!)

When I think about their day, I can’t help but think about how FUN their reception was! Like I said, Maddie and Mike are huge Penn Staters, and their crowd sure knew how to party! Zombie Nation was played, as was Sweet Caroline, and it felt *almost* like we were all back in Beaver Stadium!!

Congratulations, Maddie & Mike!

The story behind this trunk is just the sweetest! Each bride in Maddie’s family signs the top of the box and adds a helpful trinket after their wedding day! It then gets passed from bride to bride, ensuring that they have everything they could possibly need in a pinch for their wedding day!

Mike bought each of his groomsmen their favorite liquor! What a fun way to honor your guys on your wedding day!

You know you’re loved when your girls react like this as soon as you slip into your gown! Maddie… you are SO gorgeous!

Maddie wore super beautiful shoeless shoes for her ceremony! I love this pretty detail that is perfect for a garden wedding!

I don’t think there was a dry eye during their vows!!

Married!!!

It was meant to be!! The rain let up JUST as we started portraits! Thank goodness!!

I’ve had the pleasure or working with Nick of Visual Rose in the past, and he delivered yet again! Re-live Maddie & Mike’s beautiful day via video below!
